Leon Donation Appeal
Cocoa
Leon was found on February 19th after being hit by a car. As you can see he is feeling much better thanks to his medical foster volunteers.

Leon had an emergency visit to our Vet due to his inability to walk. He Received:
  • 4DX Test- testing for flea and tick diseases and heartworms.
  • He came back positive for Ehrlichia, a bacterial infection caused by an infected tick biting him.
  • His treatment is a 28 day course of antibiotics.
  • Leg Surgery.
  • After an x-ray, the doctor could confirm that Leon's front right leg was broken and required surgery.
  • He Received Rabies and other essential vaccines to get him up to date.
  • NexGard Plus monthly Treatment Prevention.
  • We will have Leon neutered once deemed healthy.

Our remaining vet bill for Leon is $1,450. If you would like to help contribute you can do so by clicking here to see ways to donate

Thank you all for your support.

    Volunteers Needed
Due to ongoing staffing shortages, we may not always be able to answer phone calls or complaints promptly . There may also be days when the shelter gate is temporarily closed during normal business hours while we manage daily operations and animal care.

At this time, the shelter is at maximum capacity. We are actively working to move dogs into rescue partnerships, but placements are slower than usual as many rescues are also facing space and resource limitations. Please know that our shelter is currently staffed by two employees, who continue to work each day to ensure every animal receives proper care, feeding, cleaning, and medical attention. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenges.

We are in great need of volunteers. Whether you can help with cleaning, walking dogs, socialization, or administrative tasks, even a few hours can make a meaningful difference for the animals in our care. We need help with the dog kennels on a daily basis, seven days a week. It is a big job for just one person to do which is what happens most days. One or two hours of extra help would be great. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us or send a message to learn how you can help.

We also ask all dog owners to please purchase your dog license. Licensing helps support shelter operations and animal services within our community. Thank you for your continued support, kindness, and cooperation. Together, we can keep moving forward for the animals who depend on us.

Find the right dog for you
When looking for that new family member please remember to really think about the things you and your family want and need in a pet that fits the family lifestyle. Get to know your breeds! Some breeds require more space, exercise and circumstances than others. Even if you are going to adopt a mixed breed, look into what it's primary breed needs in a home, environment and exercise. Your new family member needs to be wanted by everyone in the family and included in your daily lives to be truly happy. Click here for more information on how to find the right dog.

    Fostering a dog or cat
We have many animals at the shelter that are available to be fostered (given a temporary home until we find it a permanent home).
    • Digs thrive in calm safe spaces accompanied by humans to keep them entertained.
    • We learn more about their character which makes it easier to find them a home.
    • You can foster for a few days or a few weeks.
    • We can customize your experience.
    • Food and supplies provided.
If you would like more information on fostering or would like to apply to be a foster mom or dad please come to the Shelter and complete an application form.
